EVAC 06/11 Recap and 27/11 Planning

Posted by Neil Golding On November - 13 - 2009

Last week’s EVAC was a hit as you may have seen in the previous news post, having its first serious Street Fighter IV Double Elimination Tournament. Along side this, we also saw Rock Band 2 making an appearance, along with some classic PS2 games. Read behind the cut for more info on EVAC 27/11!

So, it turns out that the Wine Centre have finally gotten in touch with us, and we have the rooms booked from the 27th of November through to the 11th of December! That’s three more weeks of gaming fun, with a two-week intermission. The room is now booked until 9, but that is the absolute deadline – we will need to be completely and utterly packed up and out of the room before the clock strikes, so an 8:30 pack up is probably prudent. Meetings will still start at 4, naturally.

Hope to see plenty of you folks there!

EVAC-FC: SF4 Double Elim results

Posted by Neil Golding On November - 13 - 2009

Thanks to the time and patience of Peter, Thom and Ale, EVAC was able to end the year with a Street Fighter IV double elimination tournament. Keeping up with tradition, Playman placed first, followed by PeteN and theundyingmage respectively. Jump behind the cut for more information on the tournament.

And here’s the results, as said by Thom in the leaderboard thread:

For those who didn’t catch where they came, tonight’s tournament results were as follows:

1 – Playman (Peter Lay)
2 – PeteN (Pete Nguyen)
3 – theundyingmage (Rob)
4 – Myles
5 – Hybrid (Jorge), Troy
7 – Spiro, Jubei (Neil)
9 – Hugo, Oss, Jimmy, Marble (Jesse)
13 – Josh, Dion, Brad, Terragent (John)

A few unexpected placings there, and lots of new faces, which should make things interesting.

Below is some video footage from the tournament.

We’ll try to get confirmation one way or another about future bookings, but for now we’ve got one more week’s worth of video games and market food. EVAC 23/10 Recap and 30/10 Planning

Last week saw the first set of ranbats (ranked battles) for Street Fighter IV, along with Naruto EX 3 on the Projector. Other games in play were: Street Fighter 4 single player (unlocking characters for club PS3) and Street Fighter Alpha 3. Come to think of it, there wasn’t anything that wasn’t a fighter. Maybe we can fix that this week! As always, hit read more for a link to the forum thread regarding this EVAC session.
